Touching on everything from strategy to responsible leadership, our distance learning Business and Management courses help students develop the practical and strategic business skills needed to become the responsible business leaders of tomorrow.

No matter which pathway they go down, they will explore a combination of modules to enhance existing experience and practical abilities, whilst building their understanding of the impact of leaders on organisations and wider society.

Students will be taught by academics in our Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) double accredited Business School, who are research-engaged and experienced business practitioners. Each course is delivered via a flexible online format, which allows working professionals to learn while they earn. Plus, with multiple start dates and the freedom study wherever and whenever it suits them, students can take control, fitting their studies in around their work and personal commitments.

Our Business and Management Pathways

Business and Management BA (Hons)

Aimed at those with a Level 4 qualification, such as a Higher National Certificate, Certificate of Higher Education or equivalent, this course will allow students gain a full BA degree in around three years, part time.

Business and Management BA (Hons) Top Up

Designed for those with a qualification at Level 5, such as a Higher National Diploma, Foundation Degree or Diploma of Higher Education, our Top Up will give students the opportunity graduate with a BA in just 18 months, part time.

Business and Management MSc

If students already have a degree, in any subject, our MSc will help them develop a Masters-level knowledge of business and a transferable skill set of real value. The full course can be completed in around two years, part time.

Assessments

The form of assessments will vary between modules but all of them will be submitted online. There will be no need for students to come to campus.

Course Fees

Academic Year 2023/24*:

  • BA (Hons): £10,440
  • BA (Hons) Top Up: £5,220
  • MSc: £9,960

Students willl be able to spread these fees over the duration of your study, paying on a module-by-module basis.

Distance Learning Experience

Northumbria’s Business and Management suite of programmes has been developed in partnership with online experts to make sure students get the most flexible, interactive and engaging experience possible. As a distance learner, they’ll be free to study the course their way, while still benefiting from Northumbria’s excellent teaching and research.

The recommended study time for each course is 15 hours a week.

Entry Requirements

For all our distance learning courses, international applicants may be required to show an English language qualification, such as IELTS or Pearson PTE Academic.

Business and Management BA (Hons)

Students should have a UK Level 4 qualification in a related subject or an international equivalent. This includes a:

  • Higher National Certificate (HNC)
  • Certificate of Higher Education (CertHE)
  • Higher Apprenticeship

Or any other Level 4 award, certificate, diploma or NVQ with sufficient credits.

Business and Management BA (Hons) Top Up

Students should have a UK Level 5 qualification in a related subject or an international equivalent. This includes a:

  • Higher National Diploma (HND)
  • Foundation Degree
  • Diploma of Higher Education (DipHE)
  • Advanced or Associate Diploma
  • Associate Degree

Or any other Level 5 award, certificate, diploma or NVQ with sufficient credits.

Business and Management MSc

For this course, students should have a minimum of a 2:2 honours degree or an international equivalent. This can be in any subject.

If they don’t meet the requirements above but can demonstrate significant professional experience in a related field, students may still be eligible.
