Drive Your Career Forward

This course will open doors to a profession that is in demand, both as a consultant or in-house. If you already have a Psychology degree that makes you eligible for Graduate Basis for Chartership (GBC) to the BPS, it’s accredited as the specialist Stage 1 training you need to follow the Chartered Occupational Psychologist training route. After graduation, you’ll be ready for your Stage 2 minimum two-year training as a practitioner – the final step you must complete to become a Chartered Occupational Psychologist in the UK.

Alternatively, you could move onto a course of further study, a research position or a non-psychology specific career.

However, we do welcome students from a range of backgrounds. So, if you do not have a background in Psychology (or a non-BPS accredited Psychology degree) but want to gain a better understanding of the human mind within a business context, you will also be eligible for the course.

With an emphasis on employability, our course will also equip you with transferable skills, such as statistical analysis, critical evaluation and communication, to help you stand out in the wider job market.

Study With the University Confronting the Challenges of Tomorrow

You’ll join our Psychology department, a thriving research community that is dedicated to making a difference. The course is taught by academics who have years of experience working in the sector, and a passion for helping students apply cutting-edge theory and research into practice.

Northumbria University’s Department of Psychology is rated in the top 20 in the UK for the outstanding reach and significance of its psychology research impact (REF 2014).
