Main Content

Please try the following:

  1. Clear your cache/cookies, change your browser and/or use an incognito browser
  2. Ensure there are no payment limits or issues with the card you are using
  3. Ensure you have completed any additional payment verifications as required by your bank
  4. Check with your bank if you are concerned whether payment has gone through
  5. Email a screenshot to DLstudentsuccess@northumbria.ac.uk and we will advise on next steps if you have been unable to successfully pay and enrol.

Ensure you email before the module payment deadline date.

Please be advised that if you’re having trouble registering and have communicated this to the University in advance of the deadline (and if you’re eligible to join the module). your issue will be addressed.

Any issues raised after the deadline will not be resolved and will prevent you from studying the module.

Summary
I intend to pay for my module at a later date. Can I register for the module now?
Main Content
No, in order to successfully register for a module, you must register and pay at the same time in advance of the module payment deadline date. Please be advised that if you experience issues registering and have communicated this to the University in advance of the deadline, (and if you are eligible to join the module) your issue will be addressed. Any difficulties raised after the deadline will not be resolved and would prevent you from studying the module.
Summary
My funding is paid directly to the University (Student Finance Northern Ireland (SFNI), Undergraduate Student Finance England, ELCAS, Corporate Sponsor). Do I need to do anything?
Main Content
Yes, you need to register for the module in advance of the enrolment deadline. All students are required to register for each module in order to progress onto it. Please be advised that it is your responsibility to ensure your funding is in place, e.g., if you need to apply for second year funding, you will need to organise this in advance of the registration deadline.
Summary
My funding is paid directly to the University and I have been incorrectly prompted for payment. What should I do?
Main Content
As a student receiving financial support, you should only be directed to register. If you are asked for payment, please first ensure we have received your proof of funding. If we have received your funding information and you are still being prompted to pay, please raise this query at the bottom of this information article, including “Finance – Incorrect Payment Prompt” in the query. Please check My Enquiries to monitor responses to your query. Please also email DLstudentsuccess@northumbria.ac.uk and we will add a note about this to your records and be on hand should you require any additional support.
Summary
I am ELCAS funded. What should I be aware of?
Main Content
You should not be prompted for payment and should be able to select and register for your module now. If you are asked for payment, please first ensure we have received your second-year funding. You can upload this information directly to the finance team using MyForms. If we have received your second-year funding information and you are still being prompted to pay, please follow the guidance from the question above.
Summary
Can I pay after the payment deadline?
Main Content
No, you must pay in advance of the payment/enrolment deadline to ensure you are correctly attached to the module and have access to it on the teaching start date. Please be advised that if you experience an issue registering and have communicated this to the University in advance of the deadline (and if you’re eligible to join the module), your issue will be addressed. Any difficulties raised after the deadline will not be resolved and would prevent you from studying the module.
Summary
I am a Postgraduate student in receipt of Student Finance England (SFE). When will my loan instalments be issued?
Main Content
SFE should issue you with a payment calendar, typically with 3 instalments across each academic year (4 modules). Please note, your 4th instalment will most likely not be issued in line with this calendar. Your 4th instalment will only be issued once you have begun your second academic year (i.e., registered and paid for your 5th module) and have completed annual programme re-enrolment. We will notify you via your Northumbria email once it is possible to complete re-enrolment, typically in the first two weeks of the module. Please be aware that pausing your studies can impact the terms and release of your SFE instalments. Please contact SFE directly for further information.
Summary
How does module registration differ from Annual Programme Re-enrolment?
Main Content
Every student is required to register, and pay where applicable, for each module. Annual Programme Re-enrolment is a separate process which does not incur any cost and must be completed annually around the time of your first enrolment. Students who are required to complete re-enrolment will be contacted via email to their Northumbria University email account, typically in the first 2 weeks of the module term.
Summary
I'm considering pausing my studies. Will this have any impact?
Main Content

Although most students begin their studies intending to complete them in the minimum timeframe, unexpected factors can mean pausing your studies is the best or only option available to you.

We’re here to support you, however, please be aware that pausing your studies can impact you in a number of ways. You will need to discuss your situation with your Progression Advisor, who will be able to give you more information on the specific impact of your intended break. If you are in receipt of Student Finance, your instalment plan will likely be put on hold if you postpone a module. Once you pay and enrol for your next module your finance provider would provide an updated payment plan. Please reach out to your Student Finance loan provider directly to check the terms and conditions.
