Course summary
Whether you’re taking the first steps in your psychology career, looking to advance your journey to becoming a Chartered Psychologist, or are simply keen to explore your interest in the subject, this conversion course will help you reach your goals.
The course is taught 100% online on a part-time basis, meaning you can study from anywhere in the world. It takes around two years to complete and is delivered part-time, with a recommended study time of fifteen hours a week

Modules
- Biology and Social Psychology (20 credits)
- Cognitive and Developmental Psychology (20 credits)
- Psychological Research Experience (20 credits)
- Individual Differences (20 credits)
- Psychological Data Analysis (20 credits)
- Research Philosophies and Planning (20 credits)
- MSc Thesis (60 credits)
You’ll study one of six 20-credit modules at a time, with each lasting 10 weeks, before a final 60-credit MSc thesis taught over 30 weeks.
Assessments
The form of your assessments will vary from essays to multiple-choice exams depending on the modules but all of them will be submitted online. There’s no need to come to campus throughout the duration of your course.

No prior psychology training or education is required.
If you don’t meet these requirements but can demonstrate considerable professional experience, you may still be eligible. Non-standard applications will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
International applicants are also required to demonstrate an English language qualification, such as IELTS or an approved equivalent.

£9,960 total for UK, EU and International students*.
You can spread the cost of your fees over the duration of your course, paying on a module-by-module basis.

Membership to the BPS
The varied nature of the course will help you learn which area of psychology suits you best. You’ll develop the biological, developmental and social psychology knowledge required for Membership to the BPS, as well as a host of transferable skills – from learning how to analyse qualitative and quantitative data to Masters-level research capabilities.
Become a Chartered Psychologist
Upon graduation, you’ll have a solid basis on which to progress to the next step: the society-accredited professional postgraduate training needed to become a Chartered Psychologist in your chosen area. It’ll also prepare you if you wish to go into further research in the field.
Specialist roles outside of psychology
Our previous Psychology graduates have secured specialist roles outside of psychology in management, advertising, marketing, and human resources, with many moving into the public sector for careers in the police and prison services, health and social services, and education.
